Advocating for the Benefits You’ve Rightfully Earned

VA service-connected disability compensation provides monthly payments to eligible veterans—and in some cases, their families. To qualify, a veteran must demonstrate that their disability is linked to an injury, illness, or event that occurred during military service.

These payments, determined by the VA, are based on the severity of the disability, known as the disability rating. Importantly, veterans do not need to be completely disabled to receive compensation—benefits are available based on the level of impairment.

Surviving spouses of veterans may qualify for monthly Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC) benefits. These benefits are available if the veteran’s death was related to a service-connected condition, or if the veteran was completely disabled due to a service-related condition for a certain period before passing.
